One long peel is about travelling the world overland with no gaps or breaks in your journey . Ever try to remove the skin of an apple in one long peel? It can be tricky but there is also something very satisfying about travelling the world this way. You know where you want to go but you never really know what lies ahead. It’s about looking out the window of a bus and waving to people you will never see again. It’s about seeing places you never knew existed.
We will be flying to Cape Town South Africa and attempting to travel all the way to Singapore using ground based public transport. No support, no fixers and no tours just a lose plan, and a burning ambition to make it all the way to Singapore in “One long peel.”
Hi, hope my book is of some use, if only as entertainment. Watch out for those baboons at Cape Point – they’ll mug you for your sandwiches!
Thanks Dan, we are really enjoying the book. We especially like your economising efforts. Need to get disciplined soon but Cape Town lends itself to café Lattes etc. I will keep an eye out for the baboons.
Ah how I envy what you are doing. I am South African myself I reside in Johannesburg (not a city you want to waste time in). I long for attempting a similar experience, I’m going to Thailand in May to teach English as I follow your journey and you find yourselves in Thailand my door would be open :).
I am going to follow your journey all the way and share your blog to all I can so please keep us posted! If you are still in South Africa I can hook you up with some endorsements for your travelling?
Until then safe travelling!

Wish you both the best. Sure I remember the long apple peel..and more so how annoying and frustrating it can be when it gets broken just as you think you are about to finish off with it.I hope and pray your peel goes UNHINDERED and indeed the ONE LONG PEEL comes to a happy ending at Singapore 🙂 (hope you sharpened the knife?)

Two things are required for a long peel..a sharp knife and a “fresh juicy firm apple” .Either one of them missing and the peel is in danger.. which one have you lost? This blog needs JUICE! 🙂 Best of luck
Incredible journey so far i read. I really appreciate your courage and your way of traveling, I hope you all the best in your future travels. Please let me know if i can be any help to you in any way.

Hi!
I am Nandi from South Africa in Durban; I love travelling both of you inspiring me about your journey. I am a backpacker I’ve been in 9 countries ever since I left South Africa in 2013 I’ve been at home. I wrote my book I dreamed of in my teen days which I am looking forward to publishing my book and my blog. The title of my book is “The journey of a crazy black woman.
Hello Nandi
Thank you, always nice to know that other people can enjoy with us the journey. I will keep an eye out for your blog
Guess how i found your log? Ha ha, i was looking at search images of BKK tuk-tuks and clicked on that pic of yours outside the Grand Palace. That’s what brought me to start reading your log. Have read just some of it. Being Pakistani, i had to jump to that section immediately. Thank you for your kind impressions of Pakistan and Pakistanis. Inshallah, will be glad to host you in Rawalpindi and treat you to some fab home-cooked Pakistani dishes in your next trip ! Not kidding about the hosting. Have to hit the sack now. Will read more of your log tomorrow onwards and comment again if necessary. Thanks for the effort you took to visit all the places on this journey. Just the treks you did in Northern Pakistan are beyond the scope of mere mortals. Cheers!
Thank you Abi. Pakistan is a very special place with wonderful people. All travellers who go there think the same thing
